It is not unknown about the new leadership overseeing the British Empire. But what effect did it really have on the US Government? Maybe alot more than most think. Following after the leave of Blaire began numerous intervening by the Senate, Congress, and other US Officals into the actions Bush has been conducting in Iraq.
Not once before has this occurred in the past 4 years. Why Now? What has changed? This is really a speculation correct? Or is it… A Surprising new development happened over the past weekend while everyone was barbecuing.
Two british destroyers entered New York Harbor over the veil of night. No report as to why they are here, they weren’t reported to be here for 4th of July activities, nor was there an announcment of this destroyers calling to US Ports as would be normal if it was a visit.
Now they have been sitting in New York harbor for the past week. Many New Yorkers have seen the destroyers but paid no mind. But should we be so careless to expect the same thing we are doing to Iran may happen to us? Are the Iranians also looking at the harbor filled with US Warships and thinking the same has New Yorkers? Oh nothing big to worry about, nothing can happen right? We think this is because we, and the Iranians have confidence in the officials in power to do the right thing. But what if, we as Americans were left out of the loop of something huge all together, and we will see the end of days without knowing it was coming.
The infamous Digg known for the pinnacle of Social Networking has took a turn for the worst. Probably the start and fall of its name has begun today. How? Today a user posted a news article regarding HD DVD encryptions. Not wishing for this information to be present to avoid legal implications Digg removed it.
Jay Adelson writes “… in order for Digg to survive, it must abide by the law. Digg’s Terms of Use, and the terms of use of most popular sites, are required by law to include policies against the infringement of intellectual property.”
While this is true, US law states that the actual people who host the site ( Digg ) cannot be held directly liable against what its audience uploads. Meaning the HD DVD companies can send a cease and desist for content to be taken down but an actual case will be mostly likely be thrown out.
Digg at this point has to do some pretty PR work with its audience… Otherwise it will end up like Mike Arring. of Techcrunch. At this point Digg & Company showed great immaturity in-handling of the matter, and instead of holding to their pride, take appropriate action. First by picking up a law book.
So, I’ve been speaking with many users on Tech crunch that have submitted websites for review months ago. Even Years. Some of these users have resubmitted their site for review many times. No answer, no reply. So whats happening? As of recent, hardly any new Web 2.0 company has been reviewed on the site. They are out there though, as I have found many more than Techcrunch cares to reveal.
Many users are coming to the conclusion that Tech crunch is actually promoting and only displaying sites on their homepage that “Help” Tech crunch. Well, what does this mean? Any site that Tech crunch displays on its homepage turns into a instant money maker. Does the old saying Friends with benefits mean anything? The relationships even between Tech crunch and it’s sponsors goes a bit beyond normal. And as of late a new marketing scheme has arisen. The authors are posting which company they are representing. All this business being distributed.
You probably already know where I am getting at. That Techcrunch’s posting rate has diminished, but how could this even be when there hundreds of posts of new Web2.0 Companies being posted in their forums weekly. It is most likely because these are not people Tech Crunch wishes to benefit from the exposure they are able to give.
I see what’s going on at Tech crunch as a dirty game, with stories being published only for the purpose of possible business ventures with Mike’s own Web 2.0 Company, or with his co-authors. This would explain a lot about what’s going on at Tech crunch, and why it’s more like a IBM Corporate impersonation of Saturday Night Live….Yeah, that doesn’t go well does it?
This is based on opinions of various users that interact with Tech crunch on a daily basis. And are no way affiliated with the numerous I hate Mike Arrington websites. But a rather collaboration of views to try and explain a growing frustration of Tech crunch readers.
America for the most part, from 1990 to 1999 have taken their position in the global market as something that will remain unchanged. The Chinese will be our factory, India will be our Telephone Support, and Japan will produce the low-end market cars that no one will seriously invest in retrospect to their Ford, GM, and Chevy counterparts.
These tables have turned significantly haven’t they? Chinese now control 25% of our economy in bonds, India not only does our Telephone Support but also 15% of the Industry’s Technology Development including our Government sectors, and Japan produces cars of quality rivaling those of Mercedes, BMW, and Aston Martin, and no one will seriously invest in a Ford, GM, and Chevy in comparison to their Japanese Counterparts.
So what is going on, what is this Re-Awakening that I am talking about? While the rest of modern world thinks Americans are just losing their touch, and are destined to lose our position in the Global Market, I will firmly disagree. In the past 5-6 Years the Baby Boom Generation will start resigning, and removing themselves from their position at work. Now your asking, well they are retiring now, why would that affect what occured five years ago?
Easy, all these Baby Boomers closing in on retirement cannot do the same quality of work, or quantity as they did in their earlier, younger years. After retiring, more and more positions will be open to the current generation of skilled works. By far, the most creative group of people in the industry are those currently 15-35 years old. These passionate, skilled, and determined workers will replace the mundane, IBM workhorses. What does this mean? You see it happening already! Apple, approximately 95% of its staff are under the age of 35. Microsoft, most of its staff are above the age of 45. If you look at the team that helped engineer Microsoft Vista though, they were beneath the age of 35, like their Apple counterparts.
Starbucks, their Marketing and Relations team? All under the age of 35 except for a few Senior Officals. XBOX360? Same thing, under 35. The new Ford line of cars? Must I say it again?
Anyone that thinks that Americans are out of the market in Cars, or Technology are sadly mistaken. Americans are prepping up with a stronger team. At one point no American company was in the gaming Industry. Even though its Microsoft, XBOX360 shows real American Intuition at work. To take a strictly Japanese Market and turn into an American/Japanese Market, what would the result be? The XBOX360 even though not as strong as its PS3 counterpart in power, has more users confident in its product line — this is very important. If users don’t feel confident in your company they will not purchase your product. Thus the reason XBOX didn’t do as well as 360. Many users were not yet confident in the product.
Apple has been revived by Young American Intuition. No 50 year old man designed any Mac Product. It was the current American generation producing this desirable products. This same motivation can be seen in more spots. YouTube & MySpace. Even on the web, the impeccable Re-Awakening of the American Empire is shining. It is spreading fast. 6 Years ago, Starbucks had fewer locations than Dunkin Dounts, MYSpace was still looking at Friendster as a serious threat, YouTube CEO’s were watching Red Vs Blue Episodes.
The auto industry is next. The emerging American youth are beginning to find their way to Ford, GM, and Chevy drawing boards as these companys are really thirsty and dieing for new creative thinking. The Result so far? The new designed Ford Fusion, Ford Taurus are prime examples of how these cars show the capability of new, youthful American ingenuity.
So, do I think the Americans will lose the Auto Industry as a leading player? No. If they do, will it take them 10 years to regain the spot if they do, like most Analysts assume? Absolutely not, I would say 2 years. If consumers see 2 years of consistent good products they will switch back.
American Ingenuity is at work, the old generation is retiring, and we currently in the switch to the new, more creative generation. This generation, unlike any other before will perform feats beyond our imagination, and will result in an America we have never dreamed it could be in the 90’s. What will come to pass will outperform any stock or broker analyst, it won’t be recognized in a State of the Union address, nor will it be acknowledged in a session of Congress.
But, it will surely come to pass as the American Empire Re-Awakens.
Is Vista the death of Windows? By death I mean the monopoly they currently hold on , the world. Lets examine. 20% of the software produced for Windows XP will work on the new OS problem free, the numbers begin to drop quickly with versions further back. You can read up more about Windows Software compatibility directly on the new Windows Vista homepage.
Right now, Windows users looking for a new upgrade are faced with a problem. If they choose to go with Vista, chances are they will have to reinvest in software. They are starting from step one. So lets look at what Window Vista costs.
Window Vista Ultimate Software - $289.00 as per their Windows Marketplace quote for Buy and Ship.
Okay…Well, now we need to purchase software to be able to write or do email, unless I am planning to use Wordpad and Windows Live Mail . Please note Windows Live Mail replaced Outlook Express on the latest version of Windows. You can see my review of it on my blog.
SO lets see how much Microsoft Office Costs.
Microsoft Office - $220.00- This is a inbetween price I calculated for their 6-7 versions of Office.
Thats around $610.00 for Windows Software. Not to mention anything else to get your work done on the pc.
So you have your $850.00 Dell, your $220.00 Microsoft Office, $289.00 for the OS….Wait… I can buy a Mac for the same price couldn’t I? Well, the old argument was that all your previous software wouldn’t work on a Mac, but guess what, they won’t work on Windows either now.
This is, and will be the most interesting launch of an OS in history, where the under dog may beat their competitor in a matter of months and overtake the name of dominant force in the industry.
One of the biggest problems faced by developers trying to venture off and do their own projects, is that after time, the project becomes stagant and dies off. Another problem are deadlines set forth by the team or individual.
Sometimes these deadlines are unreasonable. Quickly - programming and design debt builds to the point where you just drop the project from the gecko just in shear frustration.
So I decided to produce this list so your future base-camp or you tube doesn’t go off track!
1. Don’t set deadlines . It is proven that the best websites out today were not originally produced
by corporations but by individuals. Corporations kill Web 2.0, as they spend hours on hours developing useless schedules, that guys in pinstripes know little or nothing about
. (Yahoo and Google are the Exception)
2. Release and Release. If you have some sort of project going, no matter what it is, get it out there as soon as you can! Do not wait! Setup a private alpha, beta or anything! Make sure your project is always recieving feed back from users. Don’t try to release a knockout punch website . This is where corporations fail. They try to release one wholely completed website, but these projects tend to fail. Figure out what your site must have in alpha release and go with it.
3. Consolidate! Consolidate! I cannot say it enough. Every new feature you create will be a headache if you don’t mull it over correctly. Lets take a options page for users to change their password. Simple huh? Not true. One page that with only have 3 fields, Password , Email, and Name, brings in approximately 20 steps. I won’t go through them all, but in brief. (a) We have to create two fields for the password, Password and Confirm Password, we all know the procedure. (b) we have to ensure the passwords match up, through either javascript, or an asp/php/cf equivalent (c) we have to create, or reuse a function to mail the user a confirmation of this change (d) we have to create a small essay, oh man… that will be the context, or body text of that email.(I suggest locking your brother or sister into a closet and force them to do this part, I personally don’t like doing copyrighting.) Just the password change alone included 5 steps/procedures we had to do just to complete or accomplish such a simple task. I did leave out for those wanting to be technical, database connections, updating of the database etc.
4. Going to Charge? Offer Free Accounts! Free demo’s are so old, and should only be reserved for shopping cart scripts, or content management systems. People like feeling taken care of. Giving users an option to purchase or have a free account gives them flexibility to try your system with no obligation! Thus, the stress on them to make a critical buy now decision is gone! When they begin using the product, and if they like it, I guarantee your system will be first on their tongue if they need something of its nature for a paid job!
5. Less Steps! When users register, don’t take down useless address information. Especially if your site is a Mel Gibson fan club. If you don’t need the information, don’t ask for it! BUT, if in your timeline you think somewhere in the future you may need this information, it will be good to have it in the registration process from the gecko.
6. Speed! It will win the battle. If you don’t have a widely available site, and if it is slow, you will quickly lose your holding as a #1 contender for the more “dependable” competitors.
7. Wikipedia it! If you finished your new site, add it to wikipedia! Chances are, your wiki will show up quicker on google, then your actual domain for competitive keywords! So add it to Google, with as much detailed information you can!
Google TV the ongoing controversy over Mark Erickson’s videos has errupted much discussion.
Unfortunately, many disqualified individuals arise to discredit the video immediately. Groups such as TechCrunch, and Google Blogoscoped call to discount the rumor; saying that it IS a hoax. Unfortunately neither provide evidence of how IT is fake, and how someone could of faked this video without some extensive work.
Even more surprisingly their basis for calling the video fake is nothing more than their own hunch at work. I am glad these two Blog Groups aren’t working on Murder cases.
I think it is unfortunate that such groups throw Mud Without investigating further.
But fortunately Michael Arrington and And Colin don’t read the news. 2 days ago, Mark Erickson posted a video regarding the beta of Google Video. 7 Days ago, CNET does a arcticle regarding GoogleTV , with a title called, GoogleTV is hiring. I would like to see how Michael Arrington calls the videos and such service a hoax, fake and non existant. Since when did they become the next Tim O’Reilly.
It is unfathomable that the owner of these two sites even post a article as such with little or no evidence, or backing. Nor did they investigate it. I hope for your sake Michael Arrington you are right, even though the overwhelming evidence suggests else wise.
Well… It seems I need Quicktime, but cant get it… WHY? Well. As you can see the screen-shot the quick-time page has just a logo and thats it! Apple keeps screwing it up.
